TrayStatus is a small, simple and neat application created with the whole purpose of allowing you to view the status of certain keys (like Caps Lock or Num Lock) in the tray area of your screen. It's a great tool to avoid having such keys pressed by mistake or unknowingly, especially when you can't take a direct look at your keyboard or when the keyboard is broken.
TrayStatus will show a tray icon for the status of the following keys: Caps Lock, Num Lock, Scroll Lock, Alt, Ctrl, Shift, and the Windows key, as well as an icon that displays the hard drive activity (the write and/or read statuses with their current speeds). You can enable or disable any of these icons as you like, so you can end up having displayed only those you truly need.
Even though it's a very simple and straightforward tool, it also comes packed with a lot of advanced settings that are suitable especially for experienced users that want close control over every little aspect of how this tool functions or looks like.
To cut a long story short, TrayStatus is a nice utility that offers a really convenient manner of keeping an eye on the status of various keys, and best of all, it's also completely free.
